Henry Drake, MA RSW
Registered Social Worker + Psychotherapist
Hi, I’m Henry (He/Him). I understand the difficulties of day-to-day life and the importance of support from those around us. I also believe that healthy relationships, which allow us to open up and be honest, can be a powerful vehicle for change and growth.
I was a social worker for six years in the UK, working with families in need, special education, and life transition teams.
My therapeutic approach is relationship-based. This means getting to know one another and creating the groundwork for mutual trust. I believe therapy should be fun and enjoyable, as well as potentially challenging. Building a relaxed and trusting relationship is an important part of helping people feel comfortable enough to grow.
My approach is also client-led, strengths-focused, and trauma-informed. I have experience incorporating family systems theory into my practice, and my work is also influenced by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which focuses on helping people develop practical skills to manage difficult thoughts and emotions while living in line with what matters most to them. Therapy may involve talk therapy, and, depending on each person’s needs and preferences, can also include art or play to build connection.
I work with children (ages 8+), teens, young adults, and adults, providing support with anxiety, depression, stress, neurodiversity, emotional dysregulation and the challenges that come with everyday life. I also provide consultations to parents of children and youth that I am working with, to help support the entire family.
When I am not working, I can usually be found working out at the gym, playing rugby, hiking, or spending time with friends and family.
I have experienced difficulties myself and started my own journey by seeking therapy. That journey has helped me a great deal, and I hope to be able to help you as much as it helped me.

My Full Circle Story
I grew up in London, UK, and began my career as a support worker with adults with autism. That experience gave me a passion for working directly with people in need of support and inspired me to complete my Master’s in Social Work. During my training, I completed placements with both a mental health team and a complex needs team.
After graduating, I worked as a transitions social worker supporting young people with learning disabilities as they moved into adulthood. I then worked as a social worker in a special education needs team, followed by a child and family in need team. Throughout these roles, I realized I wanted to move my career toward more therapeutic, direct work.
My partner and I then made the move to Canada so I could continue my career as a social worker practicing psychotherapy. What I’ve always enjoyed most is building meaningful relationships with the children, adults, and families I support. Seeing the difference those relationships can make has always been one of the most rewarding parts of my work.
Throughout my career, I’ve met people facing many different challenges, and I’ve always tried to approach each person with empathy, honesty, and without judgment. I’ve also experienced my own difficult times and know how vulnerable it can feel to reach out for support. Having someone who truly listens can make a meaningful difference. I especially understand this at the moment, as moving to Canada has been a significant life transition with its own challenges.
Our move to Canada was definitely influenced by the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, and I continue to appreciate the beautiful landscapes that make living here so special.
